Counselling for Young People aged 13+
Being a young person can feel really hard sometimes.
There can be so much going on at once. School, exams, friendships, family difficulties, pressure to fit in, questions about who you are, or feelings that seem too big or confusing to manage on your own.
You might not know exactly what is wrong. You might just know that things do not feel okay.
I offer counselling for young people aged 13 and over, with a warm and supportive space where you can talk openly, in your own time, about whatever is going on for you. You do not need to have the right words, and you do not need to explain everything perfectly. We can simply begin with where you are.
My role is to listen, to understand, and to be alongside you while we make sense of things together.
A space to be yourself
Counselling can offer a space that feels different from the rest of life. Somewhere you do not have to pretend, hold everything in, or worry about being judged.
You may want to talk about anxiety, stress, low mood, friendship problems, family difficulties, confidence, identity, grief, school pressure, or simply feeling overwhelmed. Whatever is bringing you here, it matters.
Sometimes young people come to counselling with one clear problem. Sometimes they just feel lost, stuck, angry, anxious, numb, or unlike themselves. All of that is welcome here.
Therapy your way
I am a pluralistic counsellor, which means I do not believe there is one single way to help everybody. Every young person is different, so the support I offer is shaped around you, your needs, your personality, your experiences, and what feels most helpful.
Some young people want a space to talk things through. Others need time to build trust before opening up. However you are, we can work in a way that feels safe and manageable for you.
This is your space, and we go at your pace.
For parents and carers
If you are a parent or carer looking for support for a young person, I understand that reaching out can feel like a big step.
It can be painful to watch a young person struggle and not know how best to help. Counselling can offer them a space that is just for them. Somewhere they can feel heard, supported, and accepted.
For counselling to feel safe, it is important that young people have a confidential space to talk freely. I will always explain clearly how confidentiality works, including the rare situations where I may need to share concerns if I am worried about someone’s safety.
Getting in touch
I offer counselling for young people aged 13 and over online and in person.
If you are a young person thinking about counselling, or a parent or carer getting in touch on behalf of a young person, you are very welcome to contact me.
You do not have to have everything figured out before you reach out. Sometimes the first step is simply having someone there to listen.
